İbrahim Altan
Dr., Director General & CEO, Turkish Red Crescent
He was born in Beykoz, Istanbul in 1964.
He graduated from Marmara University Faculty of Theology. He completed his Master's and Doctorate programs at Marmara University Social Sciences Institute. He stayed in Italy for a year to conduct research during his doctorate. He worked as an Islamic History assistant at Sakarya University Faculty of Theology between 1993 and 2004.
Dr. İbrahim Altan wrote articles about his field in the Religious Islam Encyclopedia and published in scientific journals and newspapers.
Dr. started working as a volunteer in humanitarian aid organizations after the 1999 earthquake. İbrahim Altan served as coordination in both Adapazarı and Düzce earthquake zones.
He served as General Secretary of the Deniz Feneri Association for many years. He played an active role in the association obtaining the ISO 9001 quality certificate and being accepted as a member of the United Nations Social Council.
Dr. has actually worked in all natural disasters that occurred in our country after 1999. İbrahim Altan served as a member of the Advisory Board of the Prime Ministry Human Rights Presidency and as a Member of the Executive Board of the Social Risk Reduction Project of the Prime Ministry General Directorate of Social Assistance and Solidarity. Since February 2013, he started to serve as the Turkey representative of the Humanitarian Affairs Unit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
Dr. İbrahim Altan is married and has four children.
