Fehmi Görkem Üçtuğ
Assoc. Prof., Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Izmir University of Economics
Görkem Üçtuğ graduated with top honors from Middle East Technical University's Department of Chemical Engineering in 2004. He continued his academic journey with a Marie Curie scholarship, pursuing his doctoral studies at the University of Manchester in United Kingdom. He successfully completed his doctoral thesis in 2008.
After completing his military service, Görkem Üçtuğ commenced his career as a lecturer at Bahçeşehir University's Department of Energy Systems Engineering in 2010. He was promoted to the rank of assistant professor in 2012 and held the position of Vice Dean at the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences from 2013 to 2016.
During the fall semester of the 2016-17 academic year, Görkem Üçtuğ served as a visiting scholar at the University of Manchester's Department of Chemical Engineering, working with the Sustainable Industrial Systems research group under the guidance of Prof. Adisa Azapagic.
Since 2017, he has been a faculty member at İzmir University of Economics, Faculty of Engineering, where he also assumes the role of Vice Dean. His research interests encompass life cycle analysis, clean energy, energy economics, sustainability, and fuel cells. On July 17, 2018, he was awarded the title of Associate Professor.
Dr. Üçtuğ is also the co-founder and chairman of the board of CANSET A.Ş. (Carbon Neutral Sustainable Environmental Technologies - www.can-set.com), an environmental consultancy firm. He has provided environmental impact assessments, green transformation, and corporate sustainability consultancy services to prominent companies across various sectors, including petrochemicals, food, energy, and machinery.
