Eric Huybrechts
Manager of International Affairs, Institut Paris Region
Eric Huybrechts is a senior Architect and Urban/Regional Planner, co-chair of Habitat Professional Forum of UN-Habitat, Board member of ISOCARP, member of ICOMOS (CIVVIH expert, in charge of Urban partnerships), and Officer of the Royal Order of Sahametrey (Kingdom of Cambodia). He is Canadian, French and Belgian. He represents ISOCARP at COP-Climate conferences.
He is the Manager of International affairs at the Directorate General of the Institut Paris Region (www.iau-idf.fr), the largest territorial planning institute in the World. He has developed a considerable experience in the field of Urban and regional planning field as an expert and team leader on large metropolises, regions and at the national level (20 countries).
He represents Institut Paris Region to the World Urban Campaign of UN-Habitat, Habitat Professional Forum of UN-Habitat, Metropolis world association, ICOMOS, Climate Chance, Climate Heritage Network, Planners 4 Climate Action, and the global network of Metropolitan and Territorial Planning Agencies (MTPA). He manages decentralized cooperation projects with ten cities. He drives cooperation with Beijing Institute of Planning and Design, and China Academy of Planning and Design. He also has an academic experience as a scientific researcher and research director in Middle East countries and France and as a lecturer in several universities in France and abroad (Paris university, MIT…), mainly on Territorial planning in the Global South.
