On the very first day of MARUF23, as we take a step into resilience and beyond, we refresh our memories. We listen to our fundamental rights which are a part of the urban life, from experts in the field at the “Urban Basics” sessions. Local governments are key actors in protecting human rights and promoting rights-based approaches. In fact, the role of municipalities extends beyond the provision of infrastructure services. They are now also responsible for addressing the fundamental needs of city residents, such as security, and also ensuring a dignified urban life and accomplishing self-fulfillment. This session, the first of the "Urban Basics" sessions, will offer recommendations for adopting a fairer and more human rights-sensitive approaches in our cities.
