Date / Time: October 6, 14:00-18:00
This urban route is set to take place at the Cendere Art Museum in Sarıyer, and it offers a unique journey through time and space via water. It aims to explore the role of water and water-related structures in Istanbul's cultural history, which spans millennia. The characters of Istanbul's water history will guide participants on this journey, which includes the "Water Travelers Game."
The game aims to examine the role of water and its structures in the city's cultural and daily life. Istanbul, a city where water plays a significant role conceptually and physically, has a history that has transformed the city in many aspects, from the distribution of clean water to its use, shaped by the city's physical structure and location. In this history, water serves not only as a general necessity but also as a source of goodwill in the city. Moreover, spaces, individuals, and professions have been shaped by water, from water carriers to bearded men, from fountain makers to bath attendants. The socio-cultural history shaped by clean water can be traced through these characters as well as through spaces. This route and game will progress within a narrative that includes water structures, mainly located in the north of Istanbul, and characters related to water from different eras of the city. The game, designed by Urban.koop, will be played based on a character card provided to each participant as they follow the story.
