As cities evolve from production-driven spaces to consumption and reproduction-driven spaces, their economies shift from industrial production to service-based, cultural, and knowledge-based sectors. In major metropolises, former industrial and logistics areas are transforming into recreational, cultural, tourist, and educational spaces, resulting in a complex change affecting various aspects of urban life.
This deindustrialization route designed by Urban.koop will study and analyze the former industrial areas and neighborhoods surrounding the Golden Horn in Istanbul, stimulating discussions about the Golden Horn's future. The route will commence from Kasımpaşa and be undertaken by sea taxi along the shores of the Golden Horn.
Notes:
The tour will commence in front of the Istanbul Congress Center.
All participants are required to be present in the area by 13:30 with their tour tickets.
Shuttles will be available to transport participants to the starting point of the route.
