Tracing Transformation: Maltepe's Streets Reclaimed for Children

This urban route is dedicated to showcasing tactical urbanism practices in Maltepe. Along the way, participants will be able to visit several tactical urbanism projects implemented in the area since 2018. These include Maltepe's evolving square, Zümrütevler, the pedestrian-oriented play street, Yalı, the Game Street project in Altayçeşme supported by Asphaltart, the play street project in front of Cevizli Binbaşı Necati Bey Primary School supported by GDCI, and the TOPUK (Women Reaching Public Transportation) project funded by the EU micro-grant. During the visits, practitioners and urban planners will share the details and stories behind each project with the participants.
Notes:
The tour will commence in front of the Istanbul Congress Center.
All participants are required to be present in the area by 13:30 with their tour tickets.
Shuttles will be available to transport participants to the starting point of the route.
Transportation between projects will be provided by vehicle.
The tour will last approximately 3 hours.
The endpoint of the route is Maltepe.
